Little BIG Things You Can Do This October

As of October 1st, we’ve introduced a new daily post series of awareness tips that we’ll be sharing via our facebook page for the entire month. They’re all small things that won’t require much time or effort but will help you learn in small doses more about breast health, early detection signs and other activities you can do to show your support for the cause.

Try to put them to practice whenever possible this month:

Thanks to the help of our team of wonderful volunteers, we’ll also be sharing the daily posts in Arabic so more women from the region can benefit from them too:

Arabic Translation: Nesrine Chami

Be sure to check our page daily this month and share the ones you find particularly valuable with others to spread the awareness. If you have any recommendations for other “Little Big Things” someone can do during October, let us know by email to info@onewigstand.org.

Pink never goes out of style.

The last few weeks have been exciting with lots of planning and prepping for the Bras for a Cause ME fashion show (Beirut edition). It was not only the first time the bras and t-shirts for the upcoming “Look Good, Feel Good” collection were showcased, but also the custom pieces by the established designers that took part. Several designers also donated haute-couture pieces for the auction in support of the cause.

The unforgettable night was highlighted by interesting presentations by mastectomy bra specialist Dr. Yolande Badre, designer Rana Salam and breast cancer survivor Evelyne Accad (who also sang her “song of healing”) and performances by talented local bands Black Honey, Lazzy Lung and DJ Dimix. For a few hours Beirut Souks was glowing in pink for one very important cause..

All the bras and t-shirts posted here (and several others) will be a part of the “Look Good, Feel Good” collection that will be sold across the Middle East with full proceeds going towards the following breast cancer organizations: BCFE (Egypt), Breast Friends (UAE), Faireface (Lebanon), iCansurvive (Egypt), Safe and Sound (Egypt) and Zahra Breast Cancer Association (KSA). Funding will go towards breast cancer research in the region, covering the cost of mammographies and providing other specific breast cancer patient needs to facilitate the recovery process. Additionally, Bras for a Cause will be donating mastectomy bras from the collection free-of-charge for breast cancer survivors via those respectable organizations to distribute for women who cannot find the right bra post-treatment.

The shops that will be selling the “Look Good, Feel Good” collection include Galeries Lafayette (Dubai), K-Lynn Lingerie (Lebanon, Kuwait and Dubai), Pink Dust (Amman), Cream (Jeddah), Cream (Beirut), Maison Bo-m (Riyadh), Amuse Concept Store (Cairo) and AuraB.com (Online Store). We’ll be announcing as soon as the collection is in stores in the coming few days.
