“Last May, Sheena set out on a creative challenge. One dress, one year, with recycled and donated accessories to raise money for kids who couldn’t afford to go to school. This is the story of the Uniform Project.”
Simple. Creative. Brilliant.
And here we are complaining each morning that we don’t have anything to wear. Sheena makes it look easy, with each outfit worthy of its own fashion line.
I remember wearing a uniform in school and hating the unflattering cuts and colors. But as Sheena describes on the website, the kids always found a way to bend the rules and give their uniforms some personality. Here’s taking that idea to another, much more creative extreme!
So what’s the goal behind doing this?
Besides being a huge exercise in sustainable fashion (and creativity), contributions will go to the Akanksha Foundation towards funding uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums.
$80,632 raised and 223 children in school later, Sheena’s embarking on the same journey again this year.. with a movie coming out soon. Way to go Sheena and keep up the great work!
